Podcast #3 Out Now!
05.04.2007
April's Pillar Box Records podcast is out now, available here.
Featuring The Carter Manoeuvre, Harry Harris and Duncan Lockerby this could be our best podcast yet!
Warwick Uni Battle of the Bands winners The Carter Manoeuvre describe themselves as "a bunch of middle class worriers in our early twenties. Most of our worries, like those of the majority of our age group, are entirely inconsequential. We make music that reflects that, by writing songs about other things." PBR, however, would describe them as one of the most inventive and talented bands to come out of the area for a good long while. If you like tight harmonies, intricate melodies and a sound almost like Radiohead you’ll love the Carter's.
When PBR heard Harry Harris playing in Leamington we couldn't believe the maturity of his song writing, the power of his voice and his ability to hold an audience with songs recalling the likes of Americana greats Iron & Wine and early Ryan Adans. All this from a lad of 17 who'd travelled from Wales for the gig. He will be famous, no doubt about it.
To portray Duncan Lockerby as a contemporary folk singer would miss a large chunk of his appeal. Writing unpretentious, funny and yet touching songs about every-day things - it seems fairer to describe Duncan as a mature, working man's Mike Skinner.
