PBR Podcast #5

05.06.2007

Yes, it’s that time again and PBR Podcast #5 is live, ready and waiting for you. This month we’re showcasing the talents of sultry songstress Shanade Morrow, recent Godiva heat winner Kris Bucin and the poetic lyrics of Peter Wyeth. Here’s the lowdown on the latest artists to grace the PBR live lounge:

Singer/songwriter Shanade Morrow has been performing her distinctive combination of rich, blues vocals and acoustic jazzy rock for three years,,with her electric live performances making it difficult to believe she was self taught.. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Katie Tunstall and even Led Zeppelin, Shanade displays intricate musical talent accompanied by a strong soulful voice, which never fails to wow the audience. She rocked the show at last months Leam’n’Aid so don’t miss her at GW Fest 28th July at the Great Western in Warwick. www.myspace.com/gwfest

Singer/producer and multi-instrumentalist Kris Bucin has used the name Sixthline to perform his solo material for a number of years, but after attending open mic’s and various gigs across the Midlands, a supergroup of the regions’ finest musicians began to form, including Ben Ablewhite and Wiggi from Kingtide and local favourite, Kristy Gallacher
Kris describes this newer, collaborative Sixthline sound as alternative and industrial. Combining genius song writing with eclectic musical styles (and some genre hopping thrown in for good measure) Sixthline cites classics such as The Beatles and Pink Floyd as major influences, as well as more contemporary sounds like Oasis and Snow Patrol.

Through hard work and plenty of talent, it’s no wonder Kris walked the Godiva festival heats and will now get to perform live at Coventry’s Godiva festival 13th-15th July, which comes hot on the heels of his BBC local radio appearance, broadcast June 4th. Last, but certainly not least Peter Wyeth describes his music as ‘A lullaby to the night’. He doesn’t go far wrong with this description as he brings soft, skilled easy listening music to life. Powerful and poetic, this music hits your heart as well as your head with Peter’s influences including world-renowned poets Ted Hughes and Seamus Heaney. He revives simple words and, by adding acoustic sounds, gives them a new medium to speak through -this guy has a way with words. Unlike many musicians today, Peter prefers not to use effects and likes to stick with the natural sounds of acoustic guitars and percussion, giving them a life of their own by use of altered tunings, found sounds and field recordings. Music comes naturally to Peter - see for yourself at www.myspace.com/peterwyeth

That’s all for Podcast #5 and we think you’ll agree it was pretty impressive! Spread the word and tell all your friends - we’ll be bringing you another generous helping of homespun talent next month.
