Podcast #1 Launched

The first Pillar Box Records podcast was launched today to a packed crowd at Nomi Art in Leamington. The debut podcast has an indie-folk flavour and features Jen Lexmond (Influences: Ani Difranco, The Shins, Rilo Kiley), Ben Clempson (John Martyn, Paul Simon, Gomez) and Oswald 24 (Damien Rice, Nick Drake, Belle and Sebastion).

Every month, three artists will record exclusive sessions in front of a live audience at Leamington’s Noisegate Studio before the highlights are mixed and posted as a free download on www.pillarboxrecords.com. The podcasts will be supported by the forthcoming monthly event, PBR Podcast Circuit, where featuring artists gain further exposure with touring live gigs.

Kingtide - Kingtide are a 3-piece indie band from the Midlands consisting of like-minded music lovers Ben Ablewhite, Lewis Smith and Wiggi. With diverse taste in music, they draw on influences from the Wonder Stuff and the Boo Radleys to Neil Young and Ryan Adams, combining well-written songs with powerful but sensitive arrangements.Oswald 24 - A melting pot of influences and talents (Belle and Sebastian, Nick Drake, Shostakovitch), the Oswald 24 collaboration boils down the essentials of music before building it up again, creating a sound that can only be described as heart-felt, soulful acoustic indie; a well-partnered blend of immaculately written indie-based songs, enhanced by the delicate sounds of subtle classical arrangements, and rounded off by a spell-binding voice reminiscent of early Damien Rice.
Circle 3 - Circle 3 formed in 2003 when Paul Ryan had a bizarre dream. When he awoke he had entered a new name and number into his mobile phone. The name circle and the number..? Just a single 3Soft Verges - Heavily influenced by the song-writing prowess of their musical heroes (John Martyn, Richard Thompson, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Reef, The Black Crowes), the music the Soft Verges have ultimately created throws at you a myriad of musical elements.
Ben Clempson - Imagine John Martyn, Paul Simon and Gomez all packed into the body of a tall and very talented man. Jen Lexmond - American born singer / songwriter Jen Lexmond draws heavily from her love of Ani DiFranco, The Shins and Rilo Kiley to create her inimitable style of passionate alternative folk.
